Admitted to God a kind of stupidity or madness I have. That for me to be tolerant and forgiving, I cease to operate with a sense of better and worse.
That in realm of seeing better or worse in people, here is the solution revealed to me in prayer from the Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God:
See the better and worse in people.
Hang on to those thoughts. Here is what not to combine with that discernment:
Do not take pleasure, do not indulge in, fantasies of misery, violence, or death for those who are strongly associated with "worse".
This indulgence, this kind of fantasy, is more satanic than carnal pleasure. The carnal body and mind errs towards physical indulgence, but taking pleasure in thoughts of misery for others may be of satan.
In this prayer I saw the solution is not in sophisticated reasoning of my mind, but the light from the Lord Jesus Christ Son of God, and the elevated reasoning I can only get from the Holy Spirit.
And let me add that all this does not sit at equal level or above the straight words of the Lord Jesus Son of God in the Beatitudes.
Let His words be the words my words or thinking must reckon with and fit with, as superior.
My words in this writing are for the personal adaptation of what pleases God and God wants in His servants.
Words and ideas are not static and equal "things" for all time. Words are uttered by personages and uttered in an arc of strategic moves in a dynamic living cosmos.
Back to rank. What rank are you in this cosmos? This is not a rhetorical question and it has absolutely no metaphor in it. What is your rank? Yes you.
Jesus Christ is not a wise man. He is a Lord of Lords, King of Kings. He as Logos was there at Creation with His Father and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity have a long game agenda.
Our opportunity is join in this agenda in the rank as servant with our only Master being the Heavenly Father.
In the military, violence is illegal unless as orders from the highest of ranks. In the realm of servants and masters, servants do not get to execute judgement or vengeance on fellow servants or anyone unless directed by their master.
The harsh words from the Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God were on specific classes of people who had special effects on those God was trying to redeem, and on key religious institutions that had singular roles in the divine plan. These harsh words often of a miserable fate for those mentioned were strategic, important pivots in the divine agenda.
We as servants, our squabbles and mini-wars have no such high purpose. We are not high enough in rank, and the sins, insults, cursings, wrongings we endure are of a far lower section of reality.
Servants do not get to be proud of the violence or misery they inflicted on their peers in front of their Master. The Beatitudes are guidance and commandments for servants of the Heavenly Father.
My greatest challenge for forgiveness is my ex-wife Jenni and her husband James. Jenni was a declared Mad Woman in the Attic with a life mission to sew chaos into the orderliness of the world of men. See The Pathology of the Threshold: A Forensic Profile of Jenni. Here I was both living in Seattle and dating her for the sole purpose of marrying, having a monogamous relationship and all that to have and raise our kids. I chose someone obsesssed with queer advocacy, liberation theology, and inflicting chaos and harm on masculinity.
In this prayer which this writing springs from I reflected as an example the time early in our dating that Jenni was wanting to meet a group of pagan women. I knew even as atheist that these pagan women and Jenni's intent to undo order and strength in society that comes from the efforts men.
I knew all that was sick or worse in the better to worse scale.
Yet I used my money and my assertiveness to get Jenni to her first meeting with these women, the meeting was to establish a regular occurring pagan ceremony.
I offered in prayer that I have a kind of stupidity or madness, if I cannot strongly bind to the idea of better and worse, I deeply and long term abide with worse.
And having thrown out the mental tool of better or worse, there is no road out of that madness.
